The birth of VOCALOID MEIKO and KAITO, software for men and women who sing in Japanese, and the many Vocalo Ps and net creators connected to VOCALOID2 that have sprouted and intertwined with listeners, and I am very happy to have had the opportunity to work with Yamaha. Starting with VOCALOID2 Gakuppoid released in 2008, we have released VOCALOID products such as Megpoid (GUMI), Lily, CUL, Chika, kokone, and Una Otomachi. We have also released Megpoid, Una Otomachi, Koto Hibiki, and Tsuina-chan as VOCALOID6. In 2007, when I was in elementary school, I fell in love with vocaloid songs and spent my youth surrounded by the music of various creators. At the same time, I was fascinated by the technology of synthetic voice, and when I was in junior high school, I was inspired to create "Shiki Rowen" using synthetic voice software that allowed me to create my own libraries. I am also very grateful to have had the opportunity to commercialize the "Shiki Rowen" as a VOCALOID library, which I had hoped to do in the future. Happy 20th anniversary of VOCALOID! Ever since I was a junior high school student and my friend made me listen to "World is Mine" 15 years ago, VOCALOID has always been by my side. I went to high school listening to "Sayoko," went to work listening to Shutter Chance," and bought Hatsune Miku V3 with my first salary. Through VOCALOID, I met many people, learned many things, and was able to perform on many stages. I can't even imagine what kind of person I would have become if I hadn't met VOCALOID. VOCALOID is the soundtrack of my life and my oldest musical companion. I think it will continue to be so.

Having synthesizers sing has been a long-held dream of mine since the 1970s. My mentor, Mr. Tomita, also introduced many works with formant expression by adding voltage control to Moog's Filter. Later, I was astonished when Yamaha announced a sound module that could be played on MSX at the same time as the MIDI announcement. Then in 2003, VOCALOID, a new singing voice synthesizing technology, was announced, and combined with current AI technology, it has become a one-of-a-kind technology. We look forward to more technological developments that will stimulate music creators in the future.

At the time, I had no idea it would become so big, but now VOCALOID has become a tool to change the world and an opportunity to find many new talents. At Tamagawa Seigakuin, a Christian school, a total of 1,760 high school girls have submitted assignments to sing hymns with VOCALOID since the school sang the school song with Hatsune Miku in 2011. I never thought I would be able to use a VOCALOID that I have heard of! After the introduction of VOCALOID for Cubase in 2015, the content of the class has been updated this year to DTM experience using VOCALOID6 and Cubase13. We are grateful that we are able to offer this valuable and irreplaceable experience to the high school students who will lead the future, and we sincerely support the further development of VOCALOID!

I believe that many people have been saved by the fact that they can "enjoy music production by themselves. I am one of them. I first learned about Vocaloid from Miku, but many months have passed since her appearance, and Miku, who used to sing like a waddling baby, now sings very fluently. It's as if she has grown up. Congratulations on the 20th anniversary of VOCALOID! I first heard of VOCALOID around 2008, but the 20th anniversary is a very emotional moment for me. The first VOCALOID I composed a song with was Kagamine Rin, and I am very happy to have been involved in some small way in this great 20th anniversary. May VOCALOID continue to be loved and adored for a long time to come.

As a psychologist, I paid attention to Vocaloid-related art that attracts people from various cultural backgrounds, and in April 2024, I planned and conducted a lecture at our university, "Vocaloid and Multicultural Conviviality," inviting Vocaloid P r-906. The lecture drew attention to the technical characteristics of the Vocaloid singing voice, which is limited in its emotional expression compared to humans. This is not a disadvantage, but an advantage, because it allows the listener to enjoy the song from his or her own perspective, relatively free from the emotional setting of the artist. I am currently the advisor of the "Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Miku Live Research Group," an organization of students. People of all ages, genders, and nationalities come to the live concerts and talk about Vocaloid songs with great enthusiasm. Seeing the students enjoying the differences in viewpoints rather than forcibly integrating them, I am convinced that Vocaloid will attract even more attention in the future as a medium for art practice that is appropriate for the multicultural age.

I have heard that VOCALOID, when it was still under development, first sang the short word "morning". The word "morning" is often used with a positive meaning, such as the beginning of a new day or the arrival after a long night, but since VOCALOID is also the beginning of an era that paved the way for a new field of music using synthesized voices, I thought that the first song sung by VOCALOID was a very symbolic episode. For me, too, VOCALOID was the morning of hope that changed me from the doldrums I was in. Congratulations on the 20th anniversary of VOCALOID.

It was 2012 when we introduced VOCALOID to our university's PC exercise room. The version was VOCALOID3, the voice library was VY1V3, and the number of licenses was 62 for each. It was the first time in Japan that VOCALOID was used in a university class. I remember that YAMAHA organized lectures and music contests with Mr. Hidenori Kenmochi, the father of Vocaloid, and Mr. Osamu Oshima, the uncle of Vocaloid. I remember that the survey we conducted at that time showed that 67.6% of respondents were aware of Vocaloid songs, and 23.5% of them had sung them at karaoke. It was completely unexpected that songs using voice synthesizing technology would penetrate society to such a large extent. I am looking forward to not only listening to the music VOCALOID is extremely significant because it has broadened the range of enjoyment of not only listening to music.

When I was still learning Japanese, I came across Vocaloid on a certain video site and it was right in the middle of my otaku life. At the time, VOCALOIDs still only had English and Japanese characters, and I remember dreaming that one day there would be a Chinese diva... and I was so happy that I would be able to provide my own voice. YANHE is kind and dignified, and her songs have been there for me when I was lonely and made me move forward when I seemed to be at a standstill. Even if I lose my voice someday, I am sure she will continue to sing and evolve further in the hands of many people. I am truly happy to have lived in the same era as VOCALOID and to have been a part of it.

When I listen to Yuki's songs, I get a strange feeling of hearing a slightly different version of myself from when I was little.
