From singing synthesis to the ultimate music production experience
A prototype software in the research stage, paving the way to the future of singing synthesizers.
Amazingly smooth song production process thanks to groundbreaking DAW compatibility.
Available free of charge to all VOCALOID6 users.
*VOCALOID6 Editor must be installed and authorized in advance for VX-β to work.
*VX-β is a plugin software that runs on DAWs. A separate DAW software is required to launch VX-β.
VOCALOID β-STUDIO*1 was a limited-time research studio established by Yamaha to break new ground in singing synthesis.
This effort resulted in VX-β, a brand-new singing synthesizer plugin.*2
This beta product is available free of charge to all VOCALOID6 users.
The amazingly smooth music production process opens up an entire world of imagination, and you are invited to try this one-of-a-kind experience.
VX-β is available free of charge on any computer equipped with a registered copy of VOCALOID6 Editor.
Both new and existing VOCALOID6 Editor users can enjoy this free plugin.
There is no need to install separate voice bank data for VX-β. VOCALOID6 AI-compatible voice banks installed on your computer can be used with VX-β as-is.
VX-β is a singing synthesis plugin that allows users to create singing voices by inputting notes and lyrics.
The following features differentiate VX-β from VOCALOID6 and other singing synthesis software:
Custom integration with Cubase (DAW software by Steinberg) allows users to create singing voices simply by entering melodies into the DAW—no need to open a dedicated singing synthesizer editor as is the case with conventional tone generators.
(*To use VX-β with DAWs other than Cubase, load singing voice sequence files created separately by VOCALOID6 Editor or other software)
VX-β allows users to change voice parameters in real time, even while a song is playing. This gives you the power to essentially direct the AI singer mid-song, not only when the music is paused or stopped.
When a human singer adds dynamics to their singing, many aspects of the singing voice change, not only in terms of amplitude, but also in tension, breathing, vibrato, and more. Power Parameter empowers users to control those elements of articulation with a single knob.

Yamaha’s VOCALOID Team is constantly researching ways to create new value.
As part of these efforts, we launched VOCALOID β-STUDIO, a limited-time research studio for conducting research initiatives together with creators from August 2023 to March 2024. We made VX-β available to a limited number of people during this period.
Given the tremendous response, we decided to remove the limitation on the number of users and distribute VX-β to all VOCALOID6 users to broaden the worldwide user base.
The Yamaha VOCALOID Team will continue its research efforts. In this context, we view VX-β as a testing ground for our research. Future updates may involve testing new features or removing previously included ones. Through this experiment, we hope to enhance the value of VX-β together with you.
